The Institute for ICT Advancement (IICTA) at the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University (NMMU) plans to offer a suite of six short learning programmes (SLPs) to equip IT managers with the necessary skills to utilise and manage their IT resources effectively in their workplace. Each of these SLPs will be offered through e-learning (Moodle), allowing IT managers to enroll and study whilst conducting their normal day-to-day functions. These SLPs will run over a period of six months and will be offered twice a year. April 2010 saw the transfer of the control of the SumbandilaSat from Sunspace to the CSIR’s Satellite Application Centre at Hartebeeshoek.
